INTRO TO LEADER SKILLS (S11) Location: Firestone Scout Reservation, Brea • Last Day to Register: 3/29/16 • Saturday, April 2, 2016 Check-in at 7:00 am • Sunday, April 3, 2016 depart at 3:30 pm • Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook.
This course is required for all Scout Masters, Varsity Coaches, and Venturing Advisors and their assistants to be considered “trained”. All direct contact leaders not fully trained will only be registered as committee members.

SCOUTMASTER/ASST. SCOUTMASTER LEADER SPECIFIC TRAINING (S24)  Location: Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 333 S Garfield Ave, Monterey Park 91754 • Last Day to Register: 4/29/16 • Saturday, May 7, 2016 7:30 am - 1:00 pm • Leader Specific Training provides the specialized knowledge a new leader needs to assume a leadership role. Learn about working with boys, the role of the Scoutmaster, troop organizations, the patrol method, the outdoor program, the advancement program, and program planning. To be considered trained Youth Protection Training, SM/ASM Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills are required. If you are changing positions, you also need to take the Leader Specific Training for your new position in order to be trained. This course does not meet the requirements for Troop Committee members, however they are encouraged to attend for a fully functioning Troop.
